February Round-Up

Shew. That's Southern for expressing busy, y'all. I could write several separate blog posts to cover the last two weeks of February, but I'm going to take the easy road and cover it in one fell swoop. I'll also try to limit idioms to two per sentence.

After seeing my newsfeed crawling with adorable Valentine's Day photos I decided to set up a quick blanket backdrop and get a few photos of the boys. Connor is doing as babies will do and getting bigger every day. Where's my itty bitty boy with the skinny legs and blonde sideburns? He's chewing on EVERY thing so I anticipate there will be teeth to show off soon.

The trouble with taking photos of babies isn't getting their attention, but getting them to look at the camera and smile at the same time.

I've discovered the sure bet for getting my 5-year-old to *want* to have his photo taken: start taking pictures of his younger brother. Every baby shoot ends with sibling photos.

My friend, Heidi, brought her baby girl, Veronica, over to take some 3-month photos. Such a sweet girl! I loved her little expressions.

Connor and Veronica are seven weeks apart. I'm envisioning some park play dates in our future.

Since I already had my backdrop set up, Dan asked me to take some new headshot photos for his talent agency profile, and while I was at it I decided to go ahead and get some 5-month photos of Connor.

Our cats sleep on the couch 23 hours a day and are awake approximately one hour to eat and photo bomb. Connor LOVED this.

I love my boys.

Evan let me take one photo of just him, then he was out of the frame at full speed. The shirt says it all.

London

I went to London last month for work and didn't take my camera. I'm a little sad about that as London is my favorite big city, but there simply wasn't room in my luggage, or all that much free time for taking photos. But I got a few with my phone on the way in and after dinner one night on a little walk around.

The Crown and Sceptre. Nice place to get a pint. Pubs in England are either tied houses (owned by brewers and serve only that brewers' brands) or free houses. Although this is a tied house which can be limiting in terms of brands, the London Pride was rather good.

Met up with a colleague who relocated to London at this gastro-pub. He told me it was a Dickensian club.

What I thought - a pub that evokes images of London in the era of Dickens.
What he meant - a pub where Charles Dickens actually used to hang out.

Blurry zooms of St. Paul's and Big Ben.

No spotting of Dr. Who.

Go to London, see a sphinx.

More trips coming soon.

Winter Schminter

It's the winter that will not end. I love living in a place with four seasons, but after this winter I've had quite enough of snow, ice, negative wind chill, and freezing rain. Last Spring I bought Evan a pair of snow bibs at an end of season sale. Given that we've barely had any snow the past few years, I'm a little surprised I bought them, but they (and the snow boots, big winter coat, and multiple pairs of gloves) have paid off well.

In big news for Connor, he rolled over for the first time yesterday! I've tried for a week with camera in hand to get a video, but of course he had to wait until I was without video surveillance. So that will be uploaded in a future post.

Evan's school had a 100th Day of School celebration. If my Facebook feed is any indication, this is something many elementary schools now do. Math projects, counting exercises, etc., under the guise of a celebration - brilliant! Evan decided he'd dress like a 100-year-old. He picked out the tie and glasses and was all gung-ho to have me gray his hair until that morning. Oh well, I still think he looked darling.

And whaddya' know, our elusive cat, Bella, snuck in a photobomb.

Four Months

As the cliche goes, babies grow up so quickly. Four months flew by - and as I prepare to post this, Connor isn't far from five! With a little help from Dan, I set up the chair shot and hoped for a few smiles. His four month check up went well. He's soooo close to rolling over. I know crawling won't be far behind. I'm enjoying a non-mobile baby while I can!

Connor waves at his "spotter."

Smiley, happy boy.

And another fun comparison shot - Connor recently discovered toes are quite yummy.

Evan on the left - Connor on the right. Wow, Evan's hair was really dark.
