Grandparents' Weekend

Evan had a big weekend getting spoiled by all his doting grandparents. His Nana and Poppy even gave us a break on Sunday morning and watched Evan for a couple of hours so we could go to breakfast. We felt like we were on vacation! Evan was a little darling all weekend - he's always on his best behavior when people come to visit. So that's an open invitation for anyone that wants to come give us another break...er, I mean, see the baby!

Evan's First Bottle

Dan offered to give me a short break on Thursday night by giving Evan his first bottle. OK, technically we did a short trial run a week ago just to see if Evan would take a bottle (which he did) but this was the first "full" bottle-only feeding. It's a much longer process to get a bottle ready - transfer milk to bottle stored in fridge, put bottle in cup of hot water for several minutes and try to occupy crying baby until it's ready. I was sleeping in the other room, but I woke up to hear the chaos of trying to do this before the crying intensifies. So, yes, while it was supposed to be a break for me (it still was!!) I couldn't help but get up to take a picture of Evan's daddy giving him a bottle. He took to it like a champ - the 3 ounces the nurse recommended wasn't enough! I think Dan's ready to take over the 3 a.m. (and 5 or 6 a.m.) feedings too, don't you?

Landon Sings a Lullaby

For Father's Day we headed to my parent's for a small get together with the family. It was SO nice to get out of the house for a while! Since Evan's pediatrician told us to avoid the public until he's a little older, I'll take what I can get! Evan's grandparents certainly enjoyed seeing him again, as did his Aunt, Uncle and cousin. The video is of Landon singing "Twinkle Twinkle" to him (sorry, it's a little hard to hear above the TV in the background). He's handling the job of "big cousin" very well and is excited for him to get bigger so he can teach him all the little boy things he needs to know.

Happy Father's Day!

The Power of Pooh and the Pacifier

Everyone kept telling me how indispensable having a swing would be, but Evan wasn't crazy about it the first several times we put him in it. But after a particularly fitful night, we put him in the swing and he finally fell asleep. He's also discovered the pacifier isn't so bad either. He's picky though - sometimes it works, sometimes not a chance.

Four and a half glorious hours

On Monday, Evan's pediatrician gave us the okay to let him go up to five hours between feedings. I was elated, however, Evan didn't get the message right away. BUT, last night he slept for nearly four and a half glorious hours, which means both Mommy and Daddy got some much needed continuous sleep. He was awake for a good portion of the day yesterday, keeping his Grandma Z very busy as she was here to help give me a nap break. Maybe this kiddo won't be a night owl like his Daddy after all! I don't have any new pics to post yet but here are his hospital photos. Oh, and as of Monday he weighed 8 lbs., 5 oz.! He's growing fast! He still has plenty of leg room in his newborn outfits, but he's definitely getting taller (longer)! Hmm, basketball scholarship AND academic genius? Why not?
