Little League
Since we moved, Evan is now in a different Little League district. But both areas are equally serious about their baseball thanks to some recent championship teams. The way ages are calculated has also changed, so Evan was placed in the 7-8-9 year old league even though he was still six for all but the last game. It made him one of the younger boys on the team, but that didn't deter him. He learned A LOT this summer, becoming a consistent hitter at the plate, and very good left fielder. At this age, although the boys are getting much stronger in their skill set, there was no predicting which way a game might go. They had a winning season, but at the end of the game, the kids were more excited about the concession stand popsicles than they were the score.
He briefly tried out the Catcher position. He loved it, but I'm kinda glad he didn't up there. Some of these kids were significantly bigger, and I wasn't crazy about him having to defend home plate!
Little brother is his biggest fan!
Dan was the Dugout Dad at nearly every game, cheering the kids on and keeping order. It was an unofficial role, but the official coaches were all grateful, as were the parents!
Go Cards! <---- Pretty sure it killed Dan's soul a little bit to have to cheer that this season, so here's hoping next year he's drafted for the Reds!
