Weird Winter

I can't recall the last time we went almost the entire winter without any snow. We had flurries a couple of times in December or January, but nothing stuck. The plants and trees are so confused by this unusually warm weather. Then last week all bets were off. Fifty three tornadoes touched down in the midwest and the south. 53! One of them, an EF-4, destroyed two cities not far from us, including my Dad's hometown. We are so very thankful for our lives, and our homes, remaining unscathed. The day they hit it was in the 70s and muggy, the perfect recipe for tornadoes when a cold front comes through. We came up from my parent's basement when it was all over and found giant hail all around the yard. I've tried to tell Evan only as much as I think he can understand without being terrified every time it storms.
