"I'm Swimming! In My Pool!"

We went to Nashville last week for a little mini-vacation.  It was hot.  No, it was stupid hot.  As in, after an hour outside, I thought I might die, hot.  So what did we do?  Threw in the towel....no, really....over our shoulders, and went to the pool.  I'll post some pictures soon, but for now, a video of Evan.

By the way, when we arrived on Wednesday he hated the pool.  By Thursday, he was in love.  My fickle little boy.

Weekend Fun

We went to visit Dan's family last weekend in celebration of both Dan's brother, Mike's, 40th birthday and Father's Day. Originally my enthusiasm for traveling in hot, humid weather was akin to, oh, I don't know, going to a tractor pull wearing an Obama campaign shirt? But I'm glad we went - we always enjoy spending time with the family and Evan LOVES the attention.

See what I mean? This kid loves to smooch.

And dump water on his head.

Hang on guys, I see something....

Wowza - it's a cute girl! What do you mean she's my cousin?

We made it back in time to see my Dad too. Doesn't he look like he's having fun? Almost as much fun as Landon is.

Get it out of your system now Mom, cause matching outfits will not fly in a few more years.

I have no clever segue for this picture. I just love the stinkin' cuteness of it. Evan's first carousel ride.

Happy Birthday, Evan!

We spent Evan's actual birthday at home. It takes a full day just to get all those gifts out of the boxes anyway (WHY do manufacturers feel the need to use 72 twisty ties on a beach ball?), then Dan had to assemble. Thankfully this is a job he loves. I loved that Evan slept until 9 a.m. this morning. Apparently parties are exhausting even for two year olds. He woke up this morning and was excited to unwrap his gift from us. He even dressed up for the occasion.

Turns out this Memorial Day was also the perfect day to test out Evan's new beach ball sprinkler.

And spy on the neighbors.

Yay for birthdays!!

Party Time

We celebrated Evan's second birthday with the usual fanfare - family, friends, food and cake.  Unlike last year though, Evan didn't take any time out for a nap.  There was far too much fun to be had!

Cake!

New toys!!

Check out my new ride!

Just for Fun

Found this little video taken a couple of weeks ago.

Our little man is getting so big - feeding himself, talking, and yes, for the first time this Sunday he used the potty!! Woo hoo!  The kicker?  He was at church and he asked!  I've tried all the tricks at home and while he's amused at this little game, it never amounted to anything.  I wonder if our church takes boarders?
