Connor Turns One!

Where did my baby's first year go? I know this is probably the lament of nearly every parent on the planet, and for good reason. While those first few months ticked by ever so slowly, the last half of his first year are a total blur. Adding to this blur is our move to a new house, we bought a new car, and I had to go to Paris for work for a few days! Exciting and exhausting all at once. But I don't want to miss posting about our little guy's big day and how overwhelmed with love we are for our budding toddler.

We threw a first birthday shindig at our house with family and friends. Connor loves a good party - he even brings his own solo cup!

That hat didn't last too long.

"Let go of my hands, Dad! I want cake!"

Such a happy boy!

A few days later on his actual birthday, we celebrated at home with more cake and lots of smiles.

We love this little guy so much. He filled a gap in our family that I didn't even know existed until he was here. His laughs, his smiles, the way he tucks his little head into your chest when he's being shy or wants to cuddle, he's got us all wrapped around his little finger (just ask his big brother who was feeding him parts of his cinnamon roll, which he shares with no one!, on the way to school this morning).

P.S. My favorite blooper shot from the chair photos. Showing his spunky side!

Dog Days of Summer

I'm not sure if this technically qualifies as the dog days of summer on the calendar, but I don't really have a better name for this blog post! We've finally hit some cool evenings/mornings, so I feel autumn inching closer.

Dan has dusted off his theatre skills for a (thankfully, local) production of Chicago, so the boys and I have gotten a LOT of solo quality time together recently. Yes, it's crazy and exhausting, but I'm reminded almost daily that amidst the chaos are the moments that make my heart full too. A few of these I get in photos, others I make do with memories.

Evan's silly faces.

The incredible bond of brothers.

And my little reader cozied up with a book.

Then there are times I need to call in a relief pitcher (or two). So I took the boys to visit my parents this weekend for a couple of hours.

Connor had a ball exploring the back of his Papaw's truck.

And my mom got a picture with me in it! Hair isn't fixed and I'm exhausted, but I love it because my CJ is smiling.

New developments this month include holding his arms up to be held and playing patty cake.

And a comparison shot of my boys, at almost the exact same age. Love their slobbery kisses.
