Connor's Newborn Photos

I just realized I never posted Connor's newborn session photos. I knew I'd be far too tired to even attempt these by myself (nor do I have nearly the set up or skills a newborn photographer does). Even though my wonderful SIL had taken my maternity photos, and we'd done swaps in the past, I just wanted her to enjoy being an Auntie rather than worry about getting the perfect photos for me. So I started searching for someone who specializes in newborns and found Tiffney. Her portfolio was gorgeous, and she had photographed over 100 newborns, so I thought this will be a cinch.

Wouldn't you know it that my child would be the difficult one? He did NOT want to be curled up or stay asleep. Despite all the tricks - warm studio, full belly, and a pro who was better at moving him than his own mom - he gave both of us a 5-hour run for our money. He finally fell asleep at the end, after multiple feeding breaks. He peed, pooped, and spit up on me to the point that I went through all my extra clothes. Thankfully Tiffney seemed perfectly at ease with moms in states of disarray.

On a photography note, I am blown away at how sharp these are. Looking at 100% crops, tack sharp.

It is so hard to pick a favorite...

Two Months

I am attempting to soak up my remaining time at home with Connor while I can. I return to work soon and it's going to be really difficult to be away from him. He is such a content little baby.

At the beginning of his second month he had just started smiling at us. Now he "goos" and smiles most of the time he's awake. It's hard to get a good video of it since anytime I point the iPhone at him, he's distracted.

He is amused by his big brother, especially.

And for his part, Evan is still smitten. Even when Connor demonstrates his left jab.

Love.

Dan also gave Connor his second bottle this month. Connor kept falling asleep.

I love his morning stretch.

Two months old - happened too fast!

Another comparison shot.

Connor's 2 month stats:
Weight: 12'2"
Length: 24"

When he's not playing the awesome big brother, Evan is being his usual creative, imaginative 5-year-old self. For example, he came out of his room one night as "Super Underpants Man." Why not?

And this happened.

For those who know me, you know I'm a safety nut, especially when it comes to my children. I get that from my Dad. So I can assure you Evan got to "drive" the lawn mower only on the flat road, without the blade going, and obviously under the supervision of my Dad. He had a blast. Then he told me he was going to drive himself to school the next day.

A Little Comparison

On the left is Evan around 5 weeks old. On the right is Connor at 6 weeks old.

I want to keep setting up more comparison shots for fun. I wish I had done more early on. Everyone keeps saying Connor is getting so big. Maybe, but he's a peanut compared to Evan at this age.

Halloween

Halloween lived on a little longer than normal this year. We usually go to the Halloween at the Zoo party in advance, but trick-or-treating is limited to one night. Then a forecast of bad thunderstorms led most of the cities in our area to move trick-or-treating. Then everyone picked different nights, so it was a mess. Our city actually picked TWO dates. And now I have way, way, way too much chocolate and candy in my house. I'd like to say I bought only the kind I don't like or that I avoided eating any of it, but as soon as the bag was opened I was doomed. Two weeks after buying a new pair of running shoes, a first step in my effort to steel my resolve to get back into fighting shape, I am crumbled by 100 Grand candy bars. I can resist the Star Bursts, the lollipops, and anything remotely disguised as healthy "fruit" candy, but what is it about some chocolate that's worth the risk of diabetic shock?

Evan chose to be a policeman, sticking with his five year theme of choosing non-superhero, non-fantasy character costumes. The "con man" was just a natural fit and funny coincidence with Connor's name. I intended to take a portrait session with them but time and energy are in limited supply in this house, so here's the Facebook timeline cover instead.

Evan went trick-or-treating with his friends again this year. Since Amy and I walked around with them last year in the freezing cold, we made the guys do it this time while we hung out on the porch handing out candy and drinking wine. Who says Halloween is just for kids?
