What happens when Dan goes out of town the same weekend as a planned girls' trip to Huber's Orchard? Evan gets to be the center of attention with his harem, that's what. Despite my fears that a napless day would equal disaster, he was an absolute charmer and so well behaved. You think Huber's takes boarders?
Anyway, here are a few pictures from the day. It was beautiful weather, but shooting in harsh sunlight is the worst.
Trying to lift a pumpkin three times his size.
Getting his first driving lesson from Heidi. She's going to be one awesome mom. One month to go!
We rode the tractor out to the apple orchard to entertain Evan, then ended up picking apples. There was talk of pie making. I'm trying to think of a clever excuse to have to drop by their houses. Hey Heidi, didn't you want to borrow the baby bouncer?
I love this attempt at hiding the apple as he sneaks a bite. Clever boy.

Smirk
This week's theme over at I Heart Faces is "Smirk." I'm pretty sure most two-year-olds have this look down, mine included. Here's one from Labor Day weekend. He was busy running through sprinklers and this was the look I got when I asked him to smile for the camera, as if to say, "ugh, those annoying paparazzi moms."
On a side note, I love love love the catchlights in his eyes on this one. It's not easy to get darker eyes to 'pop' in a photo, but I think I finally got the tack sharp eye focus and the pop factor in this one.
For more smirkiness (like snarkiness, only it burns more calories), check out the other entries over at I Heart Faces!

Vroom Vroom!
I'm reposting a picture from the last entry because it's the perfect photo for this week's I Heart Faces contest. The theme is Vroom Vroom! Once again, here is Evan driving his motorcycle while wearing a knight's helmet. Be still my heart.

My Knight in Shining Plastic Armor
Evan spotted this costume hat at the store last week and had to have it. As recently as last fall, Evan was obsessed with hats of all kinds. But in typical toddler fashion, his obsessions can change day to day (or faster). Nonetheless, he seems to like this one, and it has become his 'motorcycle' helmet. Isn't he the cutest knight on a bike ever?
